Platform

One core. Every screen you own.

The rules that price a bill, apply a tax and post a journal entry are written once and compiled natively for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and the web - so behaviour is identical everywhere, because it is literally the same code.

Architecture

How the pieces fit

Three layers. The middle one is where most POS products quietly duplicate themselves five times.

The shared core

  • Domain model & validation
  • Pricing, discount and tax engine
  • Stock movement as immutable events
  • Journal entry generation
  • Offline queue & sync engine
  • Receipt and document formatting

Platform layer (native per target)

  • Native UI on each platform
  • Hardware access - printers, scanners, scales
  • Local database & secure storage
  • Push notifications & background work
  • Biometric and device authentication
  • Platform payment SDKs

Cloud & deployment

  • Managed multi-tenant cloud
  • Optional on-premise sync node
  • Private cloud for enterprise
  • Regional data residency
  • Automated encrypted backups
  • REST API & signed webhooks

Roughly seventy percent of SumPOS by volume lives in the shared core. That is seventy percent of the product that cannot behave differently on your iPad than it does on your Windows till.

One shared core

Written once. Identical everywhere.

Pricing rules, tax calculation, stock movement and journal entries all come from one shared core, compiled natively for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and the web - so a discount rounds the same way on every device in your business.

Windows, Android or a browser - the same till

Barcode billing, split payments, held bills, returns and shift close. Every function works with no connection at all.

  • Shared domain logic - no per-platform drift
  • Native performance and native hardware access
  • Offline-capable on every target
  • Updates ship to all platforms at once

Targets

Run it on what you already have

Buy hardware because it suits your counter, not because your software only speaks one dialect.

Android

Tablets on the counter, phones for waiters and stock counts, rugged handhelds in the warehouse.

Android 8.0+ · USB, Bluetooth & LAN peripherals

iOS & iPadOS

iPads on the floor and iPhones in a manager's pocket, with the same offline capability.

iOS 15+ · Bluetooth & network printers

Windows

The classic counter machine, with keyboard-first billing and every serial peripheral you own.

Windows 10+ · USB, serial & LAN

macOS

Back-office work, purchasing and accounts on the machine the owner actually uses.

macOS 12+ · Apple silicon and Intel

Web

Reports, catalogue management and approvals from any browser, with no install at all.

Any modern browser · Progressive web app

Guest-facing

The QR menu and ordering storefront your customers use - fast on a weak connection.

No app, no login, no download

Offline-first

The network is optional, not assumed

Most cloud software treats an outage as an exception. In the markets we serve, it is a weekly event - so SumPOS treats local as the default and the network as how data eventually travels.

  • Reads are local, so they are instant

A real database sits on the device holding your catalogue, prices, customers and today's transactions.

  • Writes always succeed

Every sale is committed locally first. There is no spinner and no failed transaction because a router rebooted.

  • Sync is a background process

Not a precondition. The queue is visible, countable and explained in plain language rather than error codes.

  • Conflicts surface honestly

If two offline tills sell the last unit, both sales are recorded and the exception is flagged. That is the truthful outcome.

Platform FAQ

Technical questions

Still unsure about something? Ask us directly - a person answers, usually the same day.

Because when each platform reimplements business logic, the platforms drift. A discount rounds differently on the tablet than on the desktop, a tax edge case is handled on Android and missed on iOS, and the correct answer starts depending on which device took the sale. A shared compiled core removes that entire category of bug.
