SumPOS vs Loyverse
Loyverse pioneered the model we have adopted: a genuinely free point of sale, paid for by optional add-ons rather than by taking a cut of your sales. It is a good product used by a very large number of businesses, and we say so without qualification. The differences are depth and geography.
The scoreboard
If you want a simple, proven, free till and nothing more, Loyverse is excellent and you should probably use it. If you need the same free till but with a real general ledger, production costing, franchise control and tax authority e-invoicing behind it, that is where we are different.

Who Loyverse are, fairly stated
- Loyverse offers a free-forever point of sale, back-office dashboard, kitchen display and customer display, used by over a million businesses worldwide.
- Its paid add-ons are Unlimited Sales History at $5 per store per month, Employee Management at $5 per employee per month, and Advanced Inventory at $25 per store per month, each with annual pricing at roughly ten months' cost.
- The point of sale runs on Android and iOS devices, with the back office in a browser.
- It is deliberately simple, which is a large part of why it works so well for small shops and cafés.

Comparison last reviewed in September 2026 using publicly available pricing pages, published reviews and vendor documentation. Competitors change their pricing, packaging and contract terms regularly, and terms are often negotiated per customer. Confirm current details with the vendor before making a decision - we would rather you checked than took our word for it.
When Loyverse is the better choice
We would rather lose the sale than lose your trust in month three.
You want the simplest possible free till
If your requirement really is scan, take money, print receipt, and you have no interest in purchase orders or ledgers, Loyverse does that beautifully and has done for years. Extra capability you never use is a cost, not a benefit.
You value a proven track record above all else
Over a million businesses is a meaningful signal, and we are nowhere near that. If low risk is your first criterion, that is a completely rational reason to choose them over us.
You are outside our compliance focus and want maximum reach
Loyverse is used across far more countries than we currently serve well. If you are outside Europe and North America, our biggest differentiators may be irrelevant to you.
You depend on an integration they already have
Their partner list has been built up over years. If your accounting or e-commerce tool is already connected there, that is real switching cost.
When SumPOS is the better choice
Where the structural differences work in your favour.
You need real accounting, not just reports
A double-entry ledger with statements, receivables, payables and bank reconciliation means month end does not involve exporting into a second system.
An e-invoicing mandate is coming for you
This is not a preference. If KSeF, Factur-X or Verifactu applies to your business, a POS that cannot issue the required document is not an option.
You sell batches, expiry dates or serial numbers
Pharmacy, grocery, food production and electronics need unit-level traceability. That is built in rather than approximated.
You want a proper desktop till
A Windows counter machine with a keyboard is still the fastest checkout ever invented for high-volume retail, and we support it natively.
You run a kitchen and need to cost a plate
Multi-level recipes that re-cost themselves when ingredient prices move, with theoretical versus actual usage variance.
You are building a franchise
Franchisee data isolation, royalty and levy calculation, and enforced brand pricing across sites you do not directly own.
Moving from Loyverse, realistically
Including the parts that are genuinely annoying, because pretending otherwise helps nobody.
- 1Export items, categories, customers, employees and stock from the Loyverse back office - the standard CSV exports cover most of it.
- 2Export your sales history before you stop paying for the history add-on, if you have it.
- 3Send us the files and we will map them, including modifiers and composite items.
- 4Your hardware almost certainly carries over. Both products drive standard ESC/POS printers, scanners and drawers.
- 5Run both in parallel for a week. Because both cores are free, this genuinely costs you nothing but attention.
SumPOS and Loyverse - the questions we get
Still unsure about something? Ask us directly - a person answers, usually the same day.
Because it is the right model, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend we invented it. A free core paid for by optional add-ons aligns our incentives with yours: we only earn money when you have grown enough to need more, and we never have a reason to take a percentage of your sales or sell your data.
